My View of Social Media in Schools

     I personally am not a huge fan of using social media in schools. I think that for most of the time, students should be required to stay off of social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. I am more of a traditional learner, so I understand and value the use of paper and direct interpersonal communication. If given the choice to have a twitter discussion or a face-to-face discussion, I would want my students to to have a face-to-face discussion. I think the emphasis put on online discussion boards has had a negative affect on the way students communicate with each other and adults. 

     However, I do believe that social media is good for certain uses in the classroom. When wanting to learn a lot about a topic, I think that Twitter and Facebook are helpful, and efficient.
